New Mexico needs a beaver restoration plan!
There were once hundreds of millions of beavers in North America. Their dams stored, cleaned, and cooled water – making more of it available late into the hot summer months. Beavers are making a comeback, but in order to revitalize watersheds and wetlands, we need more of them.
New Mexico needs a plan to restore beavers and bring back their many benefits: surface water, groundwater, wildfire breaks and refugia, wetlands habitat, and carbon storage.
